The City of Salisbury is a local government entity and encompasses an area of 158km2. We are a customer focused organisation, providing essential services to residents and visitors, in a dynamic and flexible working environment.

 

Salisbury operates 5 libraries across the Council area, 3 of these are co-located in Hubs. The Role:

In this pivotal role, you will oversee operations across multiple library branches, fostering a culture that values meaningful connections, discovery, and lifelong learning. Your focus will be on enhancing literacy outcomes and delivering an inclusive, efficient, and responsive library service that caters to diverse community needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate library programs, services, and activities to create safe, welcoming spaces for community engagement.
  • Lead and support staff and volunteers, ensuring they are trained and motivated to deliver high-quality customer service across all branches.
  • Develop and implement community-centred programs that enhance literacy, information access, and digital skills.
  • Ensure a consistent, high standard of library presentation and facilities across branches.
  • Manage staff recruitment, training, and deployment to maintain efficient branch operations.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader Library Strategy on technology initiatives, including the One Card Consortium and Library Management System.
  • Promote innovative practices within the team, encouraging creative approaches to service improvement.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, including Public Library Services, government agencies, and community partners.
