Who we are:

The City of Salisbury is a local government entity and encompasses an area of 158km2. We are a customer focused organisation, providing essential services to residents and visitors, in a dynamic and flexible working environment.

This position sits with the Strategic Urban Planning team within the City Shaping Team. The team is responsible for Strategic Planning, Masterplanning and Policy amendments under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.  It also delivers the City's Corporate Plan, the City Plan and is responsible for delivery of the Council's Sustainability Strategy. The City Shaping Team also includes the Economic Development and the Polaris Business Centre.

The City Shaping team is a collaborative team who work together and with other Council teams to explore solutions and deliver quality outcomes to the City of Salisbury community. 

The role:

The Senior Policy Planner is responsible for the delivery and advice on amendment to the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

The role will also work in an integrated manner with the broader team to work on a range of strategies and projects including masterplans.

Duties:

  • Undertake, coordinate and manage strategic policy projects.
  • Undertake research and provide advice regarding emerging urban challenges and opportunities to achieve the outcomes articulated within the City Plan
  • Undertake community engagement
  • Provide high quality and timely advice to Council and other Stakeholders.

Specialist Skills & experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to apply high level strategic and innovative thinking to complex and sensitive planning issues.
  • Significant experience with the preparation, processes, engagement and delivery of development policy amendments.
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Strong and effective writing, presentation skills.
